The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for all EHS activities, reporting, and permit compliance. This role will have a heavy emphasis in supporting mill environmental compliance as well as leading a team of EHS employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports and fosters safety and environmental compliance
- Manages the environmental and safety departments with three direct reports
- Leads permitting efforts for all capital projects
- Manages permit renewal process for the various permits
- Leads mill sustainability efforts
- Provides environmental guidance for adjacent chip mill and lumber mill
- Routine and non-routine correspondence with the Georgia EPD and EPA
- Leads the mill confined space testing
- Collects, interprets process data by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provide mill manager and department managers reports on environmental forecasts and results
- Coordinates with mill department managers, planners, and engineering team on environment impacting projects
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies
Qualifications, Education, Skills and Ability:
- BS Degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering
- 7 to 10 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer or Manager in a Kraft Pulp or Paper Mill
- 5+ years of experience specific to air permit compliance in a Kraft mill
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Pulp and paper manufacturing environmental, health and safety knowledge.
- Computer competency with Microsoft Office Tools, mill DCS, and mill wide information systems.

- Good written and oral communication skills
- Communicates well with all working groups
