CSA Mine is one of Australia’s longest operating copper mines with a history stretching back almost 150 years. At 1.9 kilometers deep, CSA is the second deepest copper mine in Australia and the third highest copper grade in the world. Located near the NSW town of Cobar, CSA Mine employs around 550 people and produces approximately 40,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year. The ore is mined and processed on site and then transported by rail 700km to the Port of Newcastle for export. CSA Mine was acquired by Metals Acquisition Limited in June 2023.
CSA Mine is looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join the team. You will work in a team that is focused on safety, while driving to meet the plan. You will work in one of the world’s most iconic mining districts, which has the second highest grade copper mine in the country.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Develop reports for external stakeholders including government regulators and parent company
- Achieve annual environmental targets as set and agreed with regulators as part of the Rehabilitation Management Plan (RMP) and development conditions of consent
- Conduct environmental monitoring and interpret results in accordance with relevant standards and approval conditions
- Conduct environmental inspections and audits, reporting findings and following up on actions in a timely fashion
- Assist with the development of environmental related training material and develop and conduct environmental awareness training when required
- Identify safety and environmental hazards, recognise emerging environmental issues and improvement opportunities for on-site application
- Implement and manage rehabilitation trials and projects to meet regulatory and mine closure guidelines
- Facilitate and manage project approval requirements and associated documentation
- Maintain, review and continuously improve the CSA Mine Environmental Management System (EMS), data recording and operational approvals and licensing requirements
- NPI and NGER data recording and reporting
- Mentoring of Environmental Advisor/Graduate and Vacation Students
Conditions:
This position is offered on a residential or drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Brisbane or Sydney position. If residential is the preferred commute option relocation costs and a housing subsidy will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in relocating to Cobar. Candidates interested in the DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.
