We are looking to hire a Project Manager Sustainability II (Dairy) immediately in a Hybrid (50/50) capacity at our Global Headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The main purpose of this role is to be embed McCormick’s Purpose Led Performance (PLP) sustainability goals across the dairy portfolio of ingredients and ensure their successful execution to support growth initiatives. This role will be responsible for the development of a sustainability strategy to support the dairy portfolio, and all execution, monitoring, reporting and stakeholder engagement of projects/initiatives related to the implementation of the strategy. A key area of focus will be on the development and execution of a robust carbon abatement strategy for the portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a strategy for the procurement of sustainable dairy products with a specific focus on a baseline and roadmap for carbon reduction
- Understand the dairy supply chain gaining traceability back to the farm level
- Identify gaps and action plan for each sub-category and supplier
- Define and own roadmap to 2030 goals and Net Zero for the category
- Develop a budget to implement roadmap for specific projects and increase to Cost of Goods for sustainable volumes
- Track and report progress against roadmap
Engage Suppliers and Stakeholders
- Develop a relationship with internal McCormick buyers and serve as a liaison between suppliers and buyers on sustainability topics in dairy
- Activate abatement strategies understanding supplier Scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 footprints and progress
- Support suppliers to onboard to SBTi
- Enroll suppliers in MCK Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition (S-LoCT) program as appropriate
- Identify and develop relationships with industry associations including potential donors or co-investment partners
- Identify and engage in any pre-competitive platforms w/food industry peers
- Continue to refine existing Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for product categories by collecting primary data from suppliers
Identify and deliver opportunities for innovation
- Lead discussions on opportunities and impacts of transition to dairy alternatives
- Identify farming or supplier processing innovations that result in carbon reduction
- Determine feasibility of use of dairy by-product in McCormick plants (e.g. fuel, etc.)
Monitor and Report on Progress
Deliver updated data for annual Scope 3 update
- Collect supplier data and integrate into the Sourcing With Purpose procurement process
- Support all external reporting (customers, ratings & rankings reports, and MCK PLP reporting)
- Participate in internal communications initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in International business / development, Social Science, Environmental Science or Agriculture or Agricultural Sciences, or Supply Chain Management
- 5-10 years’ experience managing projects, data analysis.
- Understanding and experience of the U.S. and/or international dairy industry
- Working knowledge of dairy farm practices and practices that lead to carbon reduction (e.g. manure management, regenerative agriculture, animal feed/ nutrition, etc.)
- Working knowledge of carbon accounting and reporting.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment and across a multi-sector and stakeholder audience including with farmers, suppliers, NGOs and other external stakeholders and consultants, as well as with internal management and leadership
- Ability to independently research new carbon abatement technologies and innovations and develop project plan/proposals
- Proven effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated effective execution skills with some direction or oversight provided.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project.
- Strong Project administration and management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in International business / development, Social Science, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or Supply Chain Management
- SBTi and CDP reporting experience
- Experience developing and delivering strategies in other sustainability topics including water, biodiversity, soil health, farmer resiliency, and economic empowerment is an advantage.
- Experience with other agricultural crops preferred.
- Procurement experience a plus
