Southwestern University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental Science to begin in August 2025. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Biology, Physical Geography, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered but the degree must be completed by August 1, 2025. All research areas associated with the environmental sciences will be considered; these include—but are not limited to—climate change, hydrology/water resources, geomorphology, conservation, etc. The University’s standard teaching load includes five courses per academic year along with departmental responsibilities, advising and university service.
Candidates will be expected to teach introductory level courses in climate science, earth science, ecological field studies, and environmental studies. Upper-level courses could include the Environmental Studies Senior Capstone and other specialty topics in the faculty person’s areas of interest. Candidates must be committedto excellence in research, dynamic teaching of undergraduate courses, and interdisciplinarycollaboration.
