The Santa Barbara Zoo is seeking a full-time Retail Stock Coordinator for our Retail team.
Position Status: Full-time, Regular, Non-exempt, Hourly
Compensation: $19.40 - 20.80 per hour DOE

SUMMARY:
Join our team as the Retail Stock Coordinator at the Santa Barbara Zoo. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless flow of merchandise from delivery to the sales floor. In this position, you'll manage inventory and contribute to an exceptional guest experience by providing outstanding customer service, working on the sales floor as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Inventory Control:
- Receive, unpack, and maintain accurate records of inventory and supplies
- Ensure merchandise flows efficiently from delivery to the sales floor or to storage
- Verify costs, prices, and barcode scanning accuracy in the POS system.
- Keep remote storage, stock room, and back dock organized at all times
- Assist with ticketing and restocking, and maintaining cleanliness and organization
Guest Experience & Sales Duties:
- Work on the sales floor as needed, engaging with guests, providing a warm welcome and personalized service
- Answer inquiries and respond to guest feedback promptly
- Demonstrate merchandise and assist with transactions using the POS system
- Collaborate with the Retail Ops buyer to recommend new products based on trends
Operational Duties:
- Process online Shopify orders and prepare internal shipments for pickup
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Report safety concerns and promote sustainable practices
Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
POSITION CRITERIA:

Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Preferred experience in customer service, cash handling, and shipping/receiving
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient with basic computer programs (Excel, Word, Google Docs) and capable of learning new systems
- May be scheduled to work some weekends, holidays, and special events
- Must be at least 18 years old
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to lift/carry 30 lbs. frequently and push/pull 70 lbs
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions
- Indoor and outdoor work in mild weather conditions
Tools Used:
- POS system, pricing tools, and general office equipment
- Hand trucks, ladders, and electric cart (after training)
- Two-way radio
