Ongaro and Sons, a leading Electrical, HVAC and Plumbing company, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Sr. Solar Electrical Technician/ Foreman to lead our new Solar projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of solar installations, and a passion for sustainable energy solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Project Oversight: Oversee and manage all solar installation projects from start to finish ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Team Management: Lead, manage, and train a team of solar installers, ensuring safe and efficient project execution.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all installations meet or exceed company and industry standards. Regularly inspect ongoing work to guarantee quality and compliance.
- Safety: Implement and enforce company safety policies and standards, including conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communication: Act as the primary liaison between clients, project managers, and the installation team. Address any concerns, questions, or modifications requested.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate project records, including daily logs, equipment logs, and safety reports.
- Resource Management: Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are available and organized for each project. Manage inventory and order supplies as necessary with the assistance of the warehouse team.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Suggest improvements to installation procedures to optimize efficiency and safety.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during project execution.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the solar industry, with proven experience as a foreman/supervisor or in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of solar installation processes, equipment, and industry safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Certification or training related to solar installations is a plus.
KPI Expectations
- Zero equipment sizing issues on the day of installation.
- Unless the scope of work changes during the walkthrough, no more than one job site material/equipment delivery
- QR visits reduce to 5% or less per month.
- Failed inspection reduced to 5% or less.
- Maintain 60% or greater gross profit on installation(s)
- Ensure that total material cost is 20% or less of total revenue per job.
