Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) leads banking relationship management and the provision of transaction banking, risk management and capital solutions to our clients. The team’s purpose is to provide IB&M clients with solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives. GIBC teams include: Institutional Client Coverage (ICC) – supporting our clients within Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) and Banks, Government & Education (BGOVE), Corporate Client Coverage (CCC) – supporting our clients within Industrials, Transport & Consumers (ITC) as well as Future Cities & Network (FCN) and Natural Resources, Energy & Carbon (NREC).
The New York based NREC team is focused on North American renewable energy and commodities clients supporting their financing needs in line with the IB&M purpose as they navigate the global shift to a low carbon economy.
Do work that matters:
As a Senior Associate / Associate Director working within the New York based NREC team you will play a direct role in client portfolio management activities for North America. The role presents a great opportunity to take an important role within an established team covering a client base of leading renewable energy developers, corporates and investors as they contribute to the energy transition.
Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Primary responsibility for portfolio management, mainly comprising project finance transactions, to include credit monitoring, annual reviews, review and evaluation of amendments/waivers and consents and internal communication. Work with middle office teams to track on time delivery of client reporting obligations and coordinating review of budgets, construction draw request and reports, and operational reports.
- Working with internal stakeholders across Risk, Product, Legal and internal support functions to effectively deliver on reviews, consents, waivers and amendments in line with client requirements and working to tight deadlines as required.
- Support operational matters including prepayments, loan payoffs and syndication processes, coordinating with middle and back office.
- Responsible for database management for portfolio analysis and monitoring. Provide execution support on new business, term conversions and portfolio refinancing transactions.
- When necessary, supporting origination activities including the completion of marketing materials, due diligence, modelling activities and preparation of credit papers.
- Maintenance and broadening of client relationships.
- Dependent on experience, training and motivating more junior team members in line with business objectives, contributing to action planning to ensure effective team culture, taking ownership/accountability for team actions and delivering strong communication and composure, drive and commitment to meet tight deadlines.
- Contribute to business reviews, budgeting, audit, compliance and other special requests.
- Adhere to the risk appetite and control framework of the Bank and ensure the team meets compliance, conduct, training and regulatory obligations.
We are interested in hearing from you if you have:
- Minimum 3-6 years experience in corporate or investment banking, within the natural resources and energy sectors, especially renewables and commodities. Understanding of the industry sectors and the key drivers affecting the industry. Portfolio management experience preferred
- Strong aptitude in financial modelling, together with strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity across product capabilities including corporate finance, debt capital markets, global markets and risk management, cash management and payments.
- Experience in engaging and building credibility and strong relationships and anticipating client requirements. A strong client centric mindset focused on understanding and meeting clients’ needs combined with strong interpersonal, collaboration and influencing skills.
- Track record of building and leveraging effective relationships across an organisation to deliver against financial and risk objectives.
- Understanding of control frameworks and regulatory governance requirements.
- Aptitude in financial and risk analysis and financial modelling skills.
- Working legal knowledge with ability to process complex legal documentation and appropriate knowledge of risk management/KYC requirements.
The salary range for this role is from $130,000 to $180,000. The salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
