The Head of Business Development (BD) will play a crucial role to drive, manage and execute the successful scaling of electric vehicles (EV) deployment in Thailand under Gentari Mobility Co Ltd’s (GMCL) vehicle-as-a-service (VaaS) business.
The successful candidate must not only be experienced in strategically driving pipeline growth, but also a well-rounded individual who can grow GMCL’s brand & presence in Thailand and build long-lasting partnerships. This position requires a deep understanding of the Thailand transportation & logistics market, strong business & financial acumen, and exceptional communications (inter- and intra-department) & leadership skills to drive initiatives forward.
Responsibilities
Strategy Planning & Market Analysis:
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify key opportunities, trends, and competitors in the Thailand green mobility sector;
- Develop comprehensive market scaling strategies including product & price positioning via-a-vis competitors, customer demand and OEM supply landscape. Constantly monitor and update market advancements with management & adapt strategies accordingly;
- Identify and strategize approach for potential customers whilst leveraging Centre of Excellence (COE) in Gentari HQ.
Business Development and Partnership Management:
- Build and nurture relationships with key institutional stakeholders (e.g. government & regulatory agencies, EVAT and/or other industry associations, and ministries in related infrastructure and transportation;
- Identify and drive the development of other strategic partnerships and collaborations (including regional level) to enhance GMCL's market presence and expand customer base;
- Initiate & develop customer relationships while adapting GMCL VAAS solutions to customer preference and available resources. Assess deal rationale by conducting internal rate of return (IRR) assessments and risk evaluation. Present to GMCL Board/management to obtain deployment approvals;
- Develop customer proposals and run commercial and financial modelling to ensure they are aligned with business requirements.
Vehicle Handover/Deployment:
- Negotiate and finalize commercial agreements with customers and/or partners, ensuring mutually beneficial key terms are met. Including closing internal approvals;
- Work closely with HQ COE (e.g. Product, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Marketing & Branding) to support Operations team for vehicle handover to client, including ensuring all customer requirements are met.
Regulatory & Compliance:
- Stay updated with relevant Thailand regulations, policies, and incentives related to green mobility and sustainable transportation;
- Engage with government authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Advocate for supportive policies and initiatives that facilitate the growth of the green mobility sector.
Growing Brand Presence in Thailand
- Collaborate with COE marketing team to develop and execute marketing campaigns, advertising initiatives, and public relations activities (i.e. local marketing materials, content & digital strategies) to enhance brand visibility and awareness;
- Represent GMCL at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote the brand whilst building networks with potential customers and partners, Regulatory Compliance and Government Relations.
Stakeholder management
- Effectively communicate go-to market strategies, pipeline growth, risks and project updates to management;
- Develop and effectively communicate with the Board on issues such as sales goal setting & new products and initiatives to support pipeline growth;
- Prepare and present regular reports to the board/shareholders on the performance/ corrective actions of the VAAS business.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of proven experience in business development, market entry, or launch operations, experience in transportation and/or clean energy sector are added advantage;
- Strong analytical and presentation skills with a data-driven mindset to monitor performance and make informed business decisions;
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
- Strong understanding of the Thailand fleet market dynamics, consumer behavior, and regulatory landscape;
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in fleet/VaaS market, including government/regulatory officials, industry leaders, and potential customers;
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word;
- Fluency in English and Thai languages, both written and verbal.
