About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.
Combining decades of research, top talent and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future.
We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised over $2 billion in capital – more than any other fusion energy company in the U.S.
Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.
If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.
Join the power movement as a Manufacturing Process Senior Manager - Assembly
As a Manufacturing Process Senior Manager on the Assembly Team at CFS, you will be responsible for oversight, management, and project leadership for the completion of the assembly activities to construct our next-generation SPARC tokamak device. You will guide both the technician teams and project management teams under your purview to execute the plan on-schedule and to high quality completeness. Your job is to set the technician teams on the right path to meet the plan, make the hard calls and push through major issues to find fast and efficient resolution, look ahead and adjust plans or processes accordingly, and to generally keep assembly moving smoothly and on-track. You will be responsible for knowing the assembly processes through-and-through, and making decisions on adjustments and modifications to the process. These assembly activities will include the handling, alignment, and mechanical integration of large electromagnetic coils, plasma-facing tile assemblies, vacuum vessels, RF antennas, instrumentation systems, support structures, tooling and manipulation equipment, small precise diagnostic systems, and superconducting cable bundles, all together into a tightly packed and highly integrated central device. You will use your extensive experience in the management of fast-paced, dynamic, and multi-faceted manufacturing or large mechanical construction projects to facilitate the efficient completion of SPARC, and then provide updates to the Assembly Team and CFS groups on the status and pace of the work. During this you will work directly and collaboratively with the tokamak engineers, the assembly engineers, the metrology group, the quality group, and many other team-members to ensure correct and precise completion of the components, and identify and help resolve issues as they arise during the build process.
This role is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to accelerate the development of fusion energy by ensuring SPARC is built on time and to high quality!
