Position Summary:
The Project Development Engineer's role entails estimating project costs (primarily Building Automation Controls) and conveying this information to senior management. This position involves meticulously determining all costs associated with a project and assisting the Client Services team in crafting a proposal that meets customer requirements, culminating in a proposed project budget. You will be accountable for managing response deadlines and ensuring clear communication with all team members involved in the opportunities. This role is specific to our divisions Southeast Region of the organization and are looking for someone that resides in Birmingham, AL or surrounding area.

Position responsibilities:
- Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project
- Responsible for generating proposal to Client Partners, Account Executive, or Performance Assurance Consultants
- Responsible for HVAC/HVAC Controls understanding and coordinating solutions with all parties
- Utilize proprietary tools for cost estimating
- Gain understanding of various offers and estimate accordingly
- Site assessment and periodic audits to generate scope understanding
- Site walks with contractors and contractor evaluations
- Prepare reporting that details line items of cost breakout
- Present cost estimate to management
- Receive, organize, and review information from Client Partner, Account Executive, or Performance Assurance Consultant
- Responsibility in reviewing technical requirements and understanding drawing packages
- Evaluate market value of estimate to align with value driven opportunity
- Task management use of Asana, Airtable, and other tools to efficiently track hundreds of opportunities current stage and status to effectively communicate to team members
- Ensure that deadlines are being met for opportunity responses both internally and externally bid
- Work closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) to issue any change requests
- Host bi-weekly coordination sessions with discipline leads to review bandwidth and align commitments against any projects in development or proposed
- Initiate the qualification process for new work requests by engaging with the Client Partner Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Essential skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, or Engineering degree preferred, Bachelor of Arts in Business or Finance acceptable
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC and HVAC Controls (Building Automation Controls)
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Excellent analytical and math skills
- Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Office Products particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficient using task management programs or knowledge of Asana and Airtable
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proven track record of providing excellent customer service internally and externally
- Effective working in team environment
