Job Description and Duties
Under the supervision of the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer and direction of one or more Resident Engineers (RE), the Transportation Engineer (Electrical), an Assistant Resident Engineer, performs a wide variety of professional engineering work in field and office settings. The incumbent is directly responsible for administering construction contracts and reviewing the work of contractor forces.
The incumbent reviews the work progress to ensure compliance with contract documents. This includes progressive monitoring of materials and methods used, as well as inspection of the finished products prior to acceptance. The incumbent assures appropriate measurement and payment is made and that all project documentation is completed in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. The incumbent is responsible to proactively review the contract documents for identifying and/or preparing any change orders needed to resolve conflicts and/or recommended improvements.
Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Electrical in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.
