This position is responsible for leadership of product environmental compliance and eco-design initiatives in support of sustainable development for North American Power Products. This includes but is not limited to providing technical expertise to support product environmental compliance within new product development, across the product lifecycle for existing offers, and to support product verification to Schneider Electric’s Green Premium requirements.
Actively participating in a global community of practice developing and implementing best practices for eco-design and sustainable development.
Serving as a Schneider Electric representative to industry groups, external affiliates, and/or regulatory bodies to influence the electrical industry and to further demonstrate Schneider’s thought leadership in product environmental stewardship. Leveraging external relationships and industry/regulatory networks to forecast potential changes to regulations to support business plan development and to minimize strategic risk. Identifying environmental differentiators that align with global strategy and with customer values to create market leverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Execution: Serve as technical expert to project teams to fulfill overall program requirements. Leverage existing resources – project management, offer management, engineering, industrialization, etc. – to create and execute projects, as required, to cover all products within the NAM Hub Power Products scope. Serve as the primary interface to report to and get support from Sr. Leadership within NAM and Globally.
- Change management: develop strategies and manage change to ensure successful implementation of projects and to drive implementation of eco-design throughout the product lifecycle.
- Compliance/ Governance: build programs for compliance to meet established standards and legal requirements.
- Risk management: Develop risk mitigation strategies and monitor execution risks for on-going projects
- Strategy execution: Execute growth and environmental strategies.
- Strategic planning: Create community of key stakeholders from across the business and across internal SE businesses. With business leaders and through the strategic business planning cycle, build business plan requirements for funding, resourcing, and execution planning within projects to meet both internal and external requirements for product environmental compliance and sustainable development.
- Surveillance: With environmental, technology, and Codes & Standards representatives, build a network of experts to continually monitor the changing landscape of environmental requirements driven by customer, State, Federal, International, and other regulatory bodies. Understand how these may impact Schneider Electric businesses and build associated business impact statements. Propose action plans to meet market requirements in a timely fashion and with minimal business interruption. Support the development of program and project level business cases to insure alignment and commitment for funding and execution.
- Differentiation: Leverage global sustainable development programs and tools. With Marketing, adapt as needed to highlight the environmental profiles of SE products for offer differentiation within NAM markets.
- Thought Leadership: Serve as Schneider Electric representative to industry groups, external affiliates, and/or regulatory bodies to influence the environmental direction for the electrical industry. With and through the Community of Practice, develop, publish, present key content to further demonstrate Schneider’s thought leadership in product environmental stewardship.
- Collaboration and Networking (including Global Coordination): Build a Community of Practice of the Environmental Subject Matter Experts and Standardization Experts from across the geography. Leverage skills and activities of this collective community to fulfill strategic missions across the business. From within this community, identify key leadership roles to represent NAM within the Global SE Environmental Community. This includes assigned responsibility to represent NAM in both the Global Subject Matter Experts Community and the Global Standardization Experts Community.
- Position does not have direct reports. Requirement is to effectively influence a community of cross functional and cross business unit employees to make necessary decisions and meet deadlines.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Education Required: B.S. Engineering or related study path
- Experience Required: 7+ years in product development, environmental compliance, applied materials, or a combination of the above.
- Working knowledge of PEP Eco passport and the WEEE, RoHS, REACh directives as applied to electrical equipment is also required.
- Experience working directly with regulatory bodies preferred.
- Supervision Required: Receives general direction on new work & products across multiple business units
- Self-motivated and self-directed for routine tasks and to drive outcomes based upon strategic intent.
