Vestas Research and development is where new product ideas or technologies are developed, matured, tested and improved. To put it in short, Vestas R&D is the cornerstone of Vestas - we are shaping the future of modern energy.
The Transformer submodule is part of Vestas R&D. The department is an essential contributor to making current and future wind turbines more efficient and cost-effective by developing electrical power transformers. This is done by being E2E responsible for the development and maintenance of the components according to the full value chain requirements. The daily work will be within a broad network of stakeholders and together with the electrical specialists you will be creating plans and project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to critical incidents involving transformers in the field, ensuring minimal downtime and effective resolution
- Diagnose and identify technical issues related to transformer performance and failures
- Develop and implement solutions to address and prevent recurring issues
- Maintain clear and effective communication with field teams, management, and other stakeholders
- Create detailed documentation of incidents, solutions, and preventive measures
- Conduct thorough data analysis to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement
- Apply methodologies like Six Sigma to improve product quality and reduce variations
- Provide training and support to field teams on best practices and preventive measures
Qualifications
- Bachelor / Master's in Electrical / Mechanical / Similar specialization
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with a focus on transformers or heavy electrical equipment
- In-depth understanding of transformer technical characteristics and performance metrics
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher, or equivalent certifications in quality improvement methodologies
Competencies
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently to find solutions
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and analysis
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
