Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer or a Branch Chief of Maintenance Engineering, the Transportation Engineering (Civil) performs transportation engineering-related duties to include, but not limited to: investigation, initiation and development of maintenance projects to expedite repairs of damaged and aging facilities; compilation of Plan, Specifications & Estimate design packages; collaboration with the Maintenance Engineering (ME) team in several facets of ME branches needs. Works as the lead inspector during construction phase of ME generated projects. Supervision is general in nature, but of sufficient depth to assure satisfactory performance of assigned duties. The incumbent may be required to work overtime, work irregular shifts/alternate work schedules including nights, holidays and weekends; may be required to respond to emergency situations and calls.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.
