Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
This position exists to provide environmental leadership and strategic direction through the application of principle-based management practices and adherence to our values while leveraging technology and best practices. This role will play an integral part in leading and advancing our environmental transformation and disciplined operations efforts across the entire IKO organization. As our Corp. Environmental SME, you’ll contribute to long-term value creation by making our environmental processes and systems more effective and efficient for HSE professionals to follow across IKO operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Systematically drive our environmental program to be more resilient, effective, consistent, verifiable, and efficient (structured and principled vs rule based) and continually accelerate our digital transformation utilizing Intelex.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and their impact on environmental performance that allows you to enable our operations teams to meet their environmental compliance, Green House Gases (GHG) and permit obligations.
- Provide technical support to our operational sites and individual Project Managers and support inter-disciplinary business development activities and manage compliance related environmental due diligence for future projects within IKO Operations.
- Timely preparation of air permit applications, including emission calculations
- Timely preparation and submittal of environmental regulatory reports.
- Serve as a plant backup and SME for our Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program.
- Serve as a plant backup and SME for our Clean Water Act (CWA) Program, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) discharge, monitoring, and reporting requirements.
- Represent company in dealings with agencies (Federal, Provincial/State & Local), Trade associations (ARMA) and other partners.
- Guide our response to after-hours emergencies with a sense of urgency and ensure appropriate measures take place to minimize company risk.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BS Engineering in Chemical or Environmental degree
- 5+ years of Environmental Engineering relevant experience.
- Thorough working knowledge of both Canadian and USA Environmental Protection Act (EPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), and other federal, provincial/state, and local regulations.
- Knowledge of and related experience with preparing and pre-filing process, environmental permitting, NEPA, relevant environmental regulations and processes, and related environmental considerations desired.

Technical Skills
- Experiences: Air permitting, stack testing, RCRA, NPDES permitting, DOT
- Air emission calculations, knowledge of air, RCRA and NPDES regulations.
