Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Intern – HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) for Summer, 2025. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mission:
- Maintain effective mechanisms to ensure that the activities undertaken by the company are compliant to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental law.
- Contribute to the HSE team to ensure continuous improvement and good corporate governance.
Accountabilities:
- Implement procedures for the identification, verification, access and compliance to HSE legal and other requirements;
- Maintain and update on regular base a register of applicable HSE Legal requirements and other HSE requirements;
- Evaluate and implement, in collaboration with HSE Organization, the HSE requirements for working on site
- Contribute to the proper documentation of HSE requirements
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and legislative requirements, standards, and regulations.
- Maintain and continually improve the HSE Management System and Local Procedures
Required skills/experience:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information
- Strong relevant technical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Knowledge of OSHA Regulations
Education:
- Current student in Occupational Health and Safety or STEM related field at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2025 and December, 2026
