Nature of the Position
Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Operations, the Manager of Sustainable Infrastructure unifies a team of technical professionals behind the goal of delivering exceptional public service the implementation of design and the execution of projects.
This leadership role is responsible foroverseeing the review and approval of development servicing submissions; the development and execution of policies, studies, and master plans related to infrastructure; and the management of capital infrastructure projects while ensuring accordance with District of Sechelt standards, applicable legislation and engineering practices.
Required Competencies
The incumbent will hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia (or be eligible for registration as a P.Eng. in BC). A minimum of five years’ experience in municipal engineering, with progressively increasing responsibilities, is required, as is a valid class five driver’s license.
Successful applicants will have professional, intuitive communication and interpersonal skills needed to dialogue with staff, Council, taxpayers, developers and other stakeholders. This dynamic leadership role also requires a motivated self-starter with effective organizational, and time management skills; as well as demonstrated leadership abilities and attention to detail.
The incumbent will have a high degree of technical aptitude including the ability to understand survey information, interpret engineering plans, and carry out site visits; extensive knowledge of MMCD, municipal engineering principles, standards and methods, and the applicable engineering policies, procedures, standards, and bylaws; and be able to interpret, implement and adhere to the District’s organizational policies and procedures. The role also requires technical proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and proficiency in specific engineering modelling and drafting applications is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
This is a regular, full-time position, exempt from the bargaining unit. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday; however, a flexible work schedule is required to accommodate evening meetings. The salary range for this position is $111,558 – $124,581 per year, based on experience and qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits and pension package. Relocation assistance is available.
