Key Responsibilities:
- Air Quality Compliance: Lead the charge in maintaining full compliance with all federal, state, and local air quality regulations, ensuring the plant operates within environmental guidelines at all times.
- Permit Management: Take responsibility for obtaining, renewing, and modifying all necessary air quality permits, enabling smooth facility operations, optimizations, and expansions.
- Regulatory Interface: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory personnel from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) – Division of Air Quality (DAQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), staying ahead of any regulatory changes that could impact the site.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee air quality monitoring systems, ensuring accurate audits and timely reporting. Manage air dispersion modeling requirements, whether conducted in-house or through third-party consultants.
- Performance Testing: Supervise and review air quality performance testing programs, ensuring all testing reports meet regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to align production schedules with air quality compliance requirements, minimizing downtime and optimizing plant performance.
- Strategic Leadership: Support the development of strategies and policies that reinforce the company’s commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Identify opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency while maintaining compliance.
- Budget Management: Monitor costs and schedules to ensure environmental programs are delivered within budget. Recommend budget allocations and secure resources necessary for program success.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
- Experience: At least 6 years of experience in Environmental Engineering with a focus on Air Quality and Title V compliance in the chemical industry.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of chemical processes, production, PSM compliance, and air emissions stack testing.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of air quality environmental laws, rules, and policies.
- Eligibility: Must be able to work now or in the future without sponsorship.
