o You are responsible to ensure compliance with the mine's obligations in terms of the MHSA, the MHS Regulations, MA Regulations, as well as the MPRDA in your sphere of responsibility, including National Environmental Act (NEMA) Act 107 of 1998 and National Water Act (NWA) Act 36 of 1998.
SHEQ:
• General administrative duties in relation to the SHEQ system and SHEQ function, including but not limited to:
o Data Capturing,
o Scanning, Printing and Collation of documents,
o Document storage, review, retrieval, archiving and control functions,
o Update and maintenance of the SHEQ system and documents across various platforms,
o Processing of information and/or compilation of data/information packs/reports,
o Analysis of data and/or information,
o General record keeping, record/system auditing and compilation of action plans and/or lists, including the SHEQ master list,
o Compiling, reviewing and distribution of minutes of meetings and/or departmental reports,
o Conducting of audits and/or investigations,
o Integration and alignment function of SHEQ system and/or processes across the business,
o Update, review and administration of legal register (including Acts and Regulations or other documents pertaining),
• General assistance to the Technical Manager in the execution of Technical Departmental roles and functions:
o Analytical and Technical Support to Senior Management (GM) for Business Decision Making Processes,
o General Business Technical and Risk Management Functions (Compliance and SHEQ Related),
o Operational Management Technical Support, Product/Process Quality Assurance, Technical and Risk Management Functions,
o Engineering Management Technical Support, Risk Management System and Support Functions,
o Geological, Mine Planning and Mine Development Technical Support functions,
o Technical Support for Business Development Functions,
o Technical Support to Commercial and Sales and Marketing Functions (i.e. Product and Quality Specifications, Application Process and Tenders), and
o Technical Support for Special Projects;
• SHEQ (as pertaining to issues relating to all aspects of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality systems) and compliance specific functions:
o Functioning as the appointed SHEQ Officer as defined in legislation (Mine Health and Safety),
o Functioning as the appointed Environmental Officer and/or other as defined in applicable legislation (Environmental and Water related),
o If so required, functioning in any other related legal/statutory appointment(s) as may be applicable from legislation and pertaining to the departmental function and/or business requirements,
o In line with departmental and business requirements and the relevant statutory/regulatory frameworks, Design, Implement, Maintain and Improve the company SHEQ (and technical) system,
o Provide support to statutory/regulatory appointed persons and department heads in line with the requirements of the SHEQ system,
o Translate requirements and assist HR Supervisor in matters pertaining to SLP (Social and Labour Plan, inclusive of Human Resources Development Plan, Local Economic Development and Social Responsibility as well as Closure Objectives), Skills/Training/Appointment Requirements as pertaining to SHEQ system and Compliance issues,
o Design, Develop, Maintain and Improve company Legal Register and translate requirements/actions stemming from it,
o Assist the business and relevant responsible persons to:
Identify areas of business risk and/or non-compliance and/or required improvement,
Develop suitable solutions and appropriate action plans to address the identified short comings/improvements,
Monitor implementation of the activities in line with the plans,
Align the above actions with the SHEQ systems and regulatory frameworks, and
Ensure adequate records are obtained from responsible persons and reflected in the system (close the loop);
Sustainability:
Oversight and all aspects of internal and external sustainability/compliance reporting requirements on the SLP’s, Mining Charter. DMRE presentations, future forum meeting chair and LED project implementation.
