Summary of Position
Reporting to the VP of Human Resources and working closely in collaboration with Clyde�s operations management team, the Senior Manager EHS is responsible for research, development, implementation and continuous year over year improvement of Clyde�s EHS programs to build a successful, self-sustaining safety culture that promotes and protects the well-being of employees and ensure effective compliance with applicable governmental regulations.
Essential Job Functions
- Keep employes safe and minimize workers compensation premium costs. Achieve TRIR accident frequency and gross losses objectives well below industry standards.
- In all things, rigorously pursue a data-driven, informed perspective, continuous improvement and �best possible practices.� Maintain a substantial on-the-floor presence and pursue collaborative engagement.
- With senior management and safety council leaders, develop EHS strategy, goals, leading and lagging indicators, and site-specific annual safety plans improving YOY performance.
- Bring Clyde�s into compliance with OSHA-required programs.
- Research, as needed, changing landscape of applicable local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, waste management, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials handling to determine all Clyde�s-applicable compliance requirements. Implement programs to ensure compliance.
- Support operations management in oversight and administration of environmental compliance for stormwater, wastewater, and air permitting.
- Implement strong safety inspection disciplines carried out by production, maintenance, QA and HR management. Personally conduct regular audits and inspections to identify environmental, physical plant, and employee behavioral risks for instructive purposes. With safety council leaders, develop corrective actions and controls plans to resolve non-conformances, restore safe and compliant conditions, and institute self-sustaining disciplines.
- Elevate rigor, quality and timeliness of EHS data analytics, record keeping, and reporting.
- Develop and facilitate delivery of EHS training programs personally and through operations management for employees at all levels that (1) satisfy compliance programs, (2) genuinely increase knowledge and awareness, and (3) drive behavioral change.
- Provide consultative input regarding safety on new equipment design and installation.
- Lead investigation efforts of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with operations management to ensure high quality near miss and accident investigations. Facilitate root cause analysis, corrective action response and quick closure.
- Implement effective and practical emergency response plans, procedures and drills.
- Comply with all Food Safety requirements including GMPs when in production areas and report all food safety or quality issues to supervisor or Food Safety department.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor�s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar scope EHS management role.
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated experience developing safety programs and achieving results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator and trainer.
- A strong bias to be on the floor versus in the office.
Preferred But Not Required
- Bi-lingual Spanish.
- Food industry experience - conversant with Food Safety Requirements, GMPs, HACCP.
- EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, CSHM, ASP, OHST, SMS, GSP, CET, REM, CPEA.
- Training in Lean, six sigma, continuous improvement.
