We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in environmental permitting. This is a senior-level position to support our Environmental Resource Department in obtaining a wide variety of agency permits including federal, state, and local municipalities.
This position requires effective collaboration with clients and engineering consultants to accurately define the scope of work for each permitting project and explore alternatives to avoid and minimize impacts to natural resources. This position requires effective coordination with client field crews throughout construction and routine coordination with regulatory agencies. Other tasks may be assigned as needed to support new projects and individual professional development. Senior Scientists work under the direction of a Project Manager and are supported by a team of Biologists and Field Technicians.
This position is approximately 90% office and 10% fieldwork (as needed).
Primary Responsibilities include
· Preparing Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) applications through USACE, FDEP, WMD and other local agencies throughout Florida.
· Assist with the QA/QC reviews, and provides constructive feedback on project data, scientific reports, technical documents, and statistical analyses.
· Tracks deadlines/deliverables and ensures consistency with standard operating procedures and scopes of work.
· Serves as contact for clients and attends agency/client meetings.
· Prepares and tracks project budgets
Ideal candidate
· Experience conducting wetland delineations and performing mitigation analyses using UMAM (PWS Certification a plus).
· FWC Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent Certification.
· NPDES Stormwater Management Inspector Certification.
· Project management and supervisory experience
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or other applicable fields
· Minimum 2 years of experience with permitting (Florida-specific experience a plus)
· Able to work independently and as part of a team
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment where tasking may rotate and change daily
· Excellent organizational and record keeping skills with attention to detail.
· Excellent communication, data management, technical writing, and creative problem-solving skills.
· Work remotely on occasion after probation period.
· Travel occasionally for short periods of time (i.e., less than 2 weeks).
· Must possess a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Able to work outdoors in extreme conditions (long hours, inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, biting insects).
· Perform work on unpaved, uneven surfaces (tripping hazards).
· Perform work in, on, and around water (canals, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc.).
· Must be able to stand, bend, sit, lift, and drive.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Pay Classification:
Full-time, Salaried, Exempt, Benefit Eligible
Pay range: $50,000 - $65,000 dependent upon experience
