YOUR PROFILE
You are known for your sense of initiative, your efficiency, and your practical knowledge of environmental regulations. You are passionate about the environment and building strong relationships with the community. Working on several projects stimulates you. YOUR CHALLENGE
Reporting to the US Environment and Community Relations team leader, you will be responsible for the environmental permitting and community relations of renewable energy projects throughout the US. In addition to the environmental assessment process, you will complete permit requests from local municipalities, state and federal authorities and you will be called upon to monitor environmental compliance during construction. You will also be responsible for communications/relations with the host community and the public consultation process with the aim of achieving social acceptability of the project(s). You must distinguish yourself by the quality of your judgment, your interpersonal skills and your ability to adapt. As part of Boralex's renewable energy project development activities, you will:
- Be responsible for the process of environmental impact studies and obtaining authorizations and permits;
- Coordinate environmental aspects and regulatory affairs in the development and construction of projects;
- Actively manage scope, schedule and budget of third-party consultants to advance the development of our projects;
- Prepare and present information for public consultation sessions (e.g., open houses);
- Liaise with various regulatory agencies and stakeholders in the host jurisdictions and communities of our projects;
- Develop strategies to navigate regulatory challenges and achieve social acceptability;
- Participate in the monitoring of US and North American regulatory changes and assess possible impacts to projects;
- Be responsible for regulatory compliance reviews of origination stage projects (municipal, state, federal, etc.).
YOUR SKILLS
- Master’s degree in environment, human/social sciences, or other relevant field, an asset;
- More than 7 years of relevant experience;
- Experience in the development of major projects, an asset;
- Experience in the field of renewable energy, an asset;
- Advanced knowledge of English;
- French speaking, an asset;
- Autonomy, initiative and sense of organization;
- Leadership, great communication, negotiation and teamwork skills.
- Please note that the position involves several business trips, mainly in the US Northeast but may include travel to Canada and western US.
