PURPOSE OF JOB
Environmental, Health and Safety Manager (EHS) will support and maintain EHS policies within the designated site to ensure compliance within organizational as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Able to respond to technical and regulatory inquires with minimal oversight. Coordinator will have the ability to perform regulatory research, perform audits, write reports, create & deliver presentations, and lead special projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Specific activities will include:
- Maintains all applicable procedures, processes, and programs relating to EHS within compliance with all local, state & federal statutes.
- Assists with record keeping, presentation, & evaluation of department Records & Key Performance Indicators. i.e., KPIs (300 log, Incident Log, Utilities, Tier 2, etc.)
- Provides EHS training & orientation to new & existing employees.
- Maintaining EHS programs aligning with organizational and regulatory requirements
- Perform internal EHS compliance audits and manage the implementation of audit corrective action recommendations from internal/external audit sources.
- Maintain environmental regulatory requirements related to air quality and emission, wastewater, storm water, as well as solid and hazardous waste management.
- Cultivate and continuously improve a “Safety Culture” among all site employees, believing in a zero-injury workplace.
- Conduct, Review, & Communicate Job specific Risk Assessment across all processes (PPE, Ergonomics, etc.)
- Assist & Conduct incident investigation, root cause evaluation, & implement root cause corrective action plans.
- Incident investigation and reporting
- Assists with workers compensation investigation, reporting, and follow-up.
- Represents the organization before governing agencies, inspectors, & auditors
- Coordinate internal first responder & external emergency personal during emergency scenarios (Fire, Storm, Security, etc.)
- Respond to emergencies and perform basic medical first aid and medical checks of all site associates.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in environmental regulatory reporting related to Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit, SARA 312 Tier II, SPCC and SWPPP is beneficial.
- Experience in tracking, analyzing, and reporting environmental data a plus.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams, etc.)
Certifications & Licenses Preferred:
- Associate Safety Professional/Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) is preferred.
- OSHA 30 Certification
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
- Continuous Improvement (Six Sigma, Lean certifications)
- Food Safety Quality training and/or certification is a strong advantage (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, SQF and PCQI)
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be comfortable working in cold and hot climate, environment odors around heavy machinery.
- Ability to climb steps, ladders, and evaluate from height.
