Sustainability Manager
Location: Phuket, Thailand
Job Purpose:
Coordinate, initiate and conduct all related sustainability activities. Create awareness within the resort environment, including associates, guests and local communities about the sustainability aims and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To ensure that all the conservation and research activities are conducted in accordance with the law of the country, the departmental and company procedures
2. To assist in the development of the yearly departmental budget, to ensure that the budget is adhered to by monitoring and controlling costs and by promoting sustainability activities and services to the guests.
3. To conduct sustainability related classes /presentations for guests and special parties as benefits the hotel and group programme in accordance to the resort approved schedule.
4. To conduct and liaise (where appropriate) guided nature based activities with the guests upon request, and to do so in accordance with the individuals abilities, environmental conditions, and other affecting variables to ensure at all times the safety of all guests, associate and the terrestrial / marine environment.
5. To take all necessary precautions for guest safety when conducting activities, including checking equipment prior to departure, checking the environmental conditions, assessing abilities of guests.
6. To ensure stakeholders are informed of all sustainability activities and actively communicate the sustainability function respectively.
7. To conduct regular training for the associates in order to build the needed awareness amongst the team along group and resort level sustainability actions.
8. To be fully conversant with the details from the BTHR sustainability file including all related policies and the auditing procedure.
9. To be fully conversant with all Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts service levels, facilities, daily functions and guest relation policies.
10. To be fully aware of the BTGF section and implement all relevant actions
11. To take the daily guiding message into daily account and be aware of daily guiding message the day.
12.To develop and communicate the requested reports and performance within the targeted goals
13. To report immediately any faulty or damaged equipment to the respective department.
14. To establish the monthly data collection in the requested format and communicate to the expected channels
15. To create and innovate an environmental leadership role within the assignment by forwarding and implement new ideas supporting the overall sustainability goals.
16. To assist in data collection and research programs and to aid the work of visiting scientists and to meet all reasonable demands placed by visiting scientists and researchers.
17. To keep thorough and accurate records of all activities, unusual events and occurrences pertaining to the conservation / research projects and (terrestrial) flora and fauna.
18. To complete all required administrative duties and reports by the deadlines provided.
19. To assist with educational internships and outreach as required.
20. To liaise with other departments and departmental heads regarding sustainability activities and implementation.
21. To provide full support and assistance to other departments as required, to attend interdepartmental
events/activities/ functions as required, on behalf of the sustainability.
22. To maintain good relations and network within the local sustainability related community.
23. To research and develop new, innovative initiatives those are locally relevant.
24. To seek long term sustainability in all your developments and actions
25. To always represent the sustainability program in a positive light.
