Who will you be working with?
In this role, you will collaborate with a global cross-functional team.
How will you make a difference?
The primary function of this role will be to lead integration, support, and maintenance of Simulator environments for Locomotive and Train control system integration testing by local & global software teams.
What will your typical day look like?
In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve challenges, develop and execute objectives for yourself and others, and directly impact short-term and long-term business goals while coordinating these objectives with all Simteam facilities.
- Support testing environments to maintain consistent capabilities used in all global simulation environments.
- Work with subsystem design teams to identify new requirements for modeling locomotive systems combining real-time systems and behavioral and physics-based dynamic plant models.
- Assist in designing and supporting an integrated simulation facility with the Erie Simulation and Controls team (Simteam).
- Participate in simulator design/development/integration within the Simteam to meet current and future integration testing capabilities and to address testing capacity challenges.
- Be capable of troubleshooting real-time HIL, emulated, and virtual capability and providing customer support.
- Lead in following a strong software development process and provide a working knowledge of global Simteam software development tools including revision control and defect tracking.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with global Simteam policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments with local and global Simteams.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics or similar.
- Professional experience working with embedded systems.
- Understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Hands-on experience with Matlab/Simulink.
- Experience with C, Bash, Perl, and/or Python.
- Working knowledge of software and electrical interface/integration hardware design techniques, including the ability to read/understand schematics.
- Experience with Gitlab version control process.
- Understanding of application and integration of real-time Communication Protocols, such as Ethernet/Serial/CAN/ARCNet.
- Experience with Linux-supported compilers, shell programming, libraries, binary applications, and other interpreted languages.
- Experience working with hardware in the loop simulators and modeling software environments.
- Experience with National Instruments software and hardware.
- Experience with Linux-supported compilers, shell programming, libraries, binary applications, and other interpreted languages.
- Experience with other model-based design tools, such as MatrixX.
- Strong communication, influencing skills, and proven history of participating in successful teams.
