The Sustainability Initiative in Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business is searching for a Postdoctoral Fellow. This is an excellent opportunity for the qualified candidate to work with Professor Nicholas Muller on a range of topics at the intersection of environmental economics, engineering, and finance. Carnegie Mellon University is known for fostering interdisciplinary research at the cutting edge of many scientific fields. This position will provide the qualified candidate with a unique opportunity to both deepen and broaden their expertise in a rich intellectual environment both in the Tepper School and across campus.
Core responsibilities include:
Participate in research.
Use interdisciplinary tools to measure monetary damages from air pollution and greenhouse gases in both U.S. and international contexts.
Updating and developing rigorous environmental performance scores and indices for major corporations and testing whether these influence firm-level key performance indicators.
Developing models of portfolio construction inclusive of monetary damage from pollution emissions.
Inevitably, as the candidate works on the areas above, novel insights in related areas will emerge.
Present work related to areas above at seminars (informal and invited), and conferences.
Manage communications with collaborators.
Write papers resulting from research activities above. Prepare occasional progress reports for funders.
Interact with graduate students and mentor undergraduate research assistants.

You should demonstrate:
Qualifications:
PhD required
Fluency in econometric software (R, Stata, e.g.) and mathematical software (Matlab ® preferred).
An established record of published papers in peer-reviewed journals among the following areas: general interest economics, finance, environmental economics field journals, and general science journals.
Experience mentoring students.
