GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist in our Providence, RI office. The successful candidate must have a solid educational background and be self-motivated with a professional attitude. They will join our team of engineers/scientists that work on a variety of projects including site investigation, environmental compliance, evaluation of remedial alternatives, design, and implementation of remedial systems and/or construction management. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced project managers and/or principals.
Between field work projects, you will work in a professional office setting, preparing detailed and accurate field documentation, data analysis and reporting.
Typical Duties May Include:
- Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks such as drilling observation, test pit observation, soil / groundwater sampling, hazardous building materials assessment, surveying, construction oversight, monitoring, etc.
- Work on all phases of projects (due diligence, site investigation, field work, data evaluation, regulatory permitting, design, engineering analysis, construction and/or implementation management and documentation, and any close out monitoring)
- Monitoring and documenting various aspects of construction projects
- Conducting technical analyses/calculations
- Interpreting various site-specific data to make conclusions and/or recommendations
- Regulatory permitting and reporting
- Performing engineering computation and analysis of subsurface data
- Writing drafts of field and engineering reports, technical specifications, and related bid documents
- Develop construction plans
- Preparing construction cost/quantity estimates
- GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Biology or related science/ engineering program required (Master’s Degree preferred)
- Environmental/engineering experience in the fields of site investigation, remediation, environmental compliance, hazardous building materials assessment preferred
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
- Ability to follow direction, and work independently or in a team setting
- Strong communication skills, problem solving and organizational skills
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, including 8-hour annual refresher certificates, is a plus
- Ability to travel locally and regionally
- A valid driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle
