Position: Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS)
Reports to: Manager of Quality Systems and Safety
Position Description: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator assists in the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the organization's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. The role focuses on promoting a safety-conscious culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting accident prevention initiatives. The EHS Coordinator works closely with the Safety Manager and other team members to achieve EHS objectives and targets, contributing to a safe and healthy work environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in promoting and fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the facility. Collaborate with supervisors, managers, and employees to ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in the deployment and maintenance of EHS programs and procedures, with a focus on accident prevention, regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, KY-OSH, EPA), and resource conservation.
- Conduct safety orientations and assist in training programs. Ensure new employees receive appropriate safety instruction.
- Support the management of OSHA and KY-OSH logs, assist with EPA reporting, and ensure accurate and timely documentation of safety incidents. Maintain safety-related databases and files, including SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and chemical inventories.
- Assist in the investigation of workplace accidents and incidents, and help develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Work with the Safety Manager to manage workers’ compensation cases and claims.
- Support hazard communication efforts, including ensuring proper labeling, storage, and handling of chemicals, and managing SDS records.
- Work closely with the Safety Manager and other team members to support safety initiatives. Participate in safety meetings, help facilitate communication between departments and contribute to a team-oriented approach to safety.
- Assist in maintaining the EHS budget, managing safety-related electronic records, and completing special projects assigned by the Safety Manager.
