Job Overview
We are currently hiring an Environmental Manager to work in the Due Diligence, Investigation, and Remediation Group. This position is based in LaBella’s Chattanooga, TN office. LaBella’s growing Phase I ESA Environmental Due Diligence Program is one of the largest and most established in the northeast and is quickly expanding into other geographies throughout the eastern United States. LaBella’s due diligence practice services a wide variety of clients consisting of municipalities, developers, attorneys, and financial institutions, each requiring client-centric, and sometimes creative solutions. The size, expected growth, and geographies serviced by LaBella’s Phase I ESA Environmental Due Diligence Program create a unique and exciting opportunity for the professional growth of the right candidate while working with some of the region’s most experienced environmental professionals within the environmental due diligence/environmental consulting industry.
A successful Environmental Manager will perform business development throughout the region to various client types to expand LaBella’s due diligence client base while also performing field work and technical aspects related to the completion of due diligence reports. The candidate should have experience in the completion of various due diligence reports (Phase Is, Transaction Screens, and Records Search with Risk Assessments [RSRAs]). In addition, the Environmental Manager will provide provided limited fieldwork for Phase II ESAs/subsurface investigations, which may include the collection of soil, groundwater, and/or soil vapor samples.
Responsibilities
- Targeted business development activities to expand LaBella’s client-base throughout the region with a focus on financial institutions, developers, and attorneys.
- Regular attendance of networking events, some of which may be after regular business hours.
- Travel throughout the region including periodic overnight stays for networking events, conferences, and fieldwork.
- Prepare proposals and budgets for due diligence projects.
- Provide Project Management for engaged environmental due diligence reports, including tracking, and maintaining project and deliverable schedules, ensuring client-specific requirements are met, and reviewing/approving project invoicing.
- Completion of technical aspects and reporting for due diligence reports, including the completion of site visits, historical and regulatory research, and report preparation, as necessary.
- Interact with senior environmental staff to evaluate environmental risk and postulate clear and client-centric conclusions/recommendations. Respond directly to client questions.
Qualifications
- BS or BA in Environmental Discipline Required.
- 5 to 8 years of experience with Phase I ESAs, Transaction Screens, and RSRAs. Environmental Professional required. Phase II ESA and remediation experience is preferred.
- Ability to review, edit, and provide QA/QC for Environmental Due Diligence Reports.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Understanding of applicable ASTM standards (1527 and 1528), United States Small Business Administration (USSBA) guidance, and familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations.
- Ability and interest in business development with commercial lenders, developers, and legal clients.
- Exceptional technical writing skills
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships within the team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Deltek and report writing software (Quire) a plus
