An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Engineering Technology & Safety / Group R&T organisation. The recently formed Environmental Technology Team wishes to recruit an Environmental Engineer for a 12-months secondment.
What you will be doing:
The Environmental Technology team is supporting the Rolls-Royce Group Sustainability Strategy from a technology development and delivery perspective. The team’s capabilities cover Sustainable Aviation Fuels, Engine Emissions and Non-CO2 effects, which drive the environmental attributes of our current and future engine product portfolio.
The role will be based on the scientific understanding of environmental technologies, their synergies as well as risks and opportunities for our engine products. It will also involve the development of technology solutions and business concepts to mitigate key risks and ensure our products achieve their environmental potential.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, agile and creative team, directly reporting to the Chief Project Engineer Sustainable Aviation Fuels. They will work on truly novel and exciting research programmes, particularly around Sustainable Aviation Fuels and Non-CO2 effects, pushing the boundaries of technology. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a broad and complex stakeholder community, both internal and external, to develop technology strategies, execute and deliver projects.

A degree in Science, such as Physics, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, or an Engineering degree or relevant experience. For the advertised secondment, we’re also looking for:
- The team operates in an agile manner, so we are looking for someone who can operate in a collaborative and open environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a structured and organised manner, so that agreed targets are achieved on time within the priorities set.
- The successful candidate should be self-driven, curious, willing to learn and able to think outside the box.
- Experience and understanding from working in an engineering and technical environment are desirable.
