The pay range is $89,700.00 - $161,500.00

As Sr. Manager Sustainability, Climate and Nature you will work closely with teams across Target to drive our climate and nature-related objectives to support Target’s Sustainability strategy, Target Forward, and related operational goals. Working within teams, and cross-functionally, the Sr Manager Sustainability ensures proper management of priority projects and initiatives and delivers outcomes on-time and with high quality. This role will conduct research, tracking, and reporting as needed in support of Target’s scope 3 climate reduction goals and relevant nature/biodiversity impacts and outcomes from our operations and supply chain. You will also monitor and maintain best practice knowledge of climate- and nature-related trends, policies, guidelines, and standards including, but not limited to environmental compliance, product claims, new business opportunities, and overall reduction programs.
Serve as subject matter expert and primary point of contact for information requests related to water, biodiversity and land (incl. agriculture)
Deliver environmental assessments (e.g. TNFD, water risk/opp analysis) to aid policy development (e.g. no deforestation, pollination) and contribute to strategy development and implementation of nature-based roadmaps, action plans, and goals.
Conduct benchmarking, data insights, and strategy design for key initiatives including carbon removals, regenerative agriculture, and innovations in sourcing low-to-negative LCA raw/agricultural materials.
Collaborate with ESG intelligence team, data insights teams, and consultants to collect, validate, analyze data on FLAG-based Scope 3 emissions, including global GHG emissions associated with raw material sourcing, recycled materials, material processing and finishing, product manufacturing, and product end-of-life.
Compile and analyze data to map brand level and enterprise scope 3 carbon impacts and develop projections for brand sustainability, materials, and innovation teams; leverage insights to reduce the impact and drive alignment to our science based targets and sustainable assortment goals.
Support disclosures aligned to key external standards (e.g. TNFD, CDP) and prepare for emerging regulatory disclosures requirements/mandates and reporting (as needed).
Establish partnership and routines with Investor Relations team to support, influence, and consult on communications related to nature and biodiversity (ie-Nature Action 100); broaden sustainability team’s acumen in understanding and evaluating investor actions to inform Target’s future strategy

About You:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, engineering, sustainability development or related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience applying the most recent methodologies and frameworks in the nature field (e.g., SBTN, TNFD, regenerative agriculture, water and biodiversity risk/opp assessment etc.) and leveraging data and risk assessments to inform strategy
General knowledge of Retail, Consumer Goods, and related industries preferred
Ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively, internally and externally, across all levels of an organization
Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans
Effective communication skills with the ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with key business leaders in order to drive accountability, instill confidence, and influence outcomes across business functions
Ability to adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to changing, ambiguous or competing priorities
Demonstrated strategic skills with the ability to assess and challenge the current state, develop strategies, and identify the tactics necessary to drive a successful implementation
Highly organized, with strong detail orientation and a focus on accuracy
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
