Route Driver - Commercial Front Load– Position Duties
Seeking dependable, responsible team player with good work ethic and communication skills for a full time Route Driver position for a customer service focused refuse & recycling collection company in Eugene, Oregon. This Route Driver position will collect garbage and recycling containers from commercial accounts with front load truck. Class B CDL drivers’ license is required.

Essential Functions-
- Safely Drive and operate front load garbage truck to collect trash and recycle containers from commercial accounts on the weekday routes
- Must ensure accounts are serviced quickly without leaving any messes
- Will travel to Recycle Center or Landfill to unload contents of truck and perform clean out procedures of refuse body after dumping load.
- May occasionally perform minor container maintenance while on route
- Will communicate customer needs and issues to office and sales departments
- Will perform daily inspection of vehicles driven and Report any vehicle defect needing correction to shop coordinator.
- Will perform bi-weekly maintenance on lift arms of front load truck and daily maintenance on dumper of recycle truck.
Required Experience & Abilities-
- Must be able to pass DOT drug screen test
- Valid driver license and clean driving record for past three years
- Meet company driving standards and comply with fleet safety policy
- Work independently in absence of supervision
- Understand and follow work orders and other oral or written instructions
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work
- Communicate with all levels of personnel and management using good verbal and written skills
- Knowledge of safe work practices
- Ability to work weekend shifts consistently
Physical Demands-
- Work safely at fast pace all day
- Must be able to push/ pull containers weighing up to 1,800 lbs.
- Must be able to bend or stoop down to lift extra materials into containers weighing up to 90 lbs at a time.
- Must exit truck at each account to move container to be dumped and return to original placement.
Education or Equivalent Experience –
- Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of truck driving experience. Formal training may be substituted for some required experience
- Class B CDL drivers license is required
Salary -
- Salary Range - $30.00 - $31.83 per hour. Medical, dental and life insurance benefits after completing probationary period
