The Opportunity…
We are seeking a Solar Installer to support solar photovoltaic and battery installation and training. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist Construction staff with installations of solar electric and battery systems in a fast-paced, production-focused environment

Strictly adhere to all organization safety rules and regulations

Assist Construction staff in staging, loading, and unloading equipment at construction warehouse and in the field

As needed, prepare supplies for volunteer install days, and help to sign in volunteers on site

As needed, print, scan, photocopy, and file documents

What you need to bring to this role…

MUST be able to work in outdoor weather conditions in rural areas

MUST be able to ascend/descend ladders to install solar panels
-
Ability to work on your feet for an 8 hour day

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to pass criminal background check in accordance with our installation partner’s guidelines

Ability to work independently as well as in a team

Interest in and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, green jobs and/or helping families and communities in need

Comfortable working as part of a team with field and office staff

Comfortable working with culturally diverse populations

Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, focus and committed, and bring ideas and energy to rapidly growing organization

Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just grounded in making the world a better place
It would be great if you also had…

PV design experience PREFERRED but not required

NABCEP Certification or willingness to get certified PREFERRED

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Sketchup or AutoCAD A PLUS
Where you will sit and the places you may go…
This position is located in San Diego and may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($22-$33 per hour), plus the benefits below.
