JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS- 0404-4 working in Eufaula, Alabama for the R4 Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge. This is a temporary position expected to last NTE 1040 Hours. MAJOR DUTIES: This is a temporary appointment intended for seasonal work that is less than 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment/service year. It is expected this position will be terminated upon completion of the seasons work. The agency may non-competitively rehire an eligible temporary seasonal worker in subsequent years who works less than 6 months or 1040 hours in their service year. At management's discretion, this appointment may be extended up to one-year with the possibility of extending an additional one-year. As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Takes and records instrument readings, performs standard tests, collects data, takes measurements and assembles information. Assists higher grades technicians with the operation of more sophisticated equipment or equipment systems. Assists in biological programs by performing animal husbandry duties for small wild mammals housed in captivity, such as cage cleaning, feeding and watering, as well as providing treatment for minor illnesses or diseases. Works as a crew member in tagging and banding projects, fish and wildlife census, surveys, collecting-data etc. Individually, or as a member of a crew, performs routine maintenance of water structures, facilities and grounds, cleanup and maintenance, farming, fencing, etc. IMPORTANT: Click the 'Apply for this job' button to view a complete job description.
