JOB SUMMARY: This position serves as the Telecommunication Manager for Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CUVA) within Interior Regions 3, 4 & 5, Midwest in Brecksville, Ohio. The position is in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division and is supervised by the Deputy Chief Ranger. The purpose of this position is to manage and provide support to region-wide visitor and resource protection staff conducting emergency services as well as monitor all park personnel operating in the field. MAJOR DUTIES: The Telecommunication Manager supervises and directs all aspects of a complex, multijurisdictional, all-risk incidents facility at the Cuyahoga Valley Communication Center. The Center is a 24/7 operation that coordinates law enforcement, aviation, vessel, backcountry, wildland and structural fire, medical, search and rescue, intelligence, and other emergency and non-emergency service functions with Federal, State, and Local agencies for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Isle Royale National Park, and Voyageurs National Park, as well as logistical support for James A. Garfield National Historic Site, First Ladies National Historic Site, Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial, Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument, and William Howard Taft National Historic Site. The position also ensures the operation is prepared to provide dispatch services in place of the other four Midwest Region Communication Centers and over-sees operations when such incidents occur. This position supports direct management and support of network and radio related IT equipment. This position serves as a subject matter expert and provides management controls for all communications related to Radios/IT/Phone Systems/Computer Assisted Dispatching/interagency IT protocols/National Crime Information Center (DOJ)/ Ohio State Law Enforcement Data System compliance and many other internet related dispatching tools. The Park is dominated by deciduous forest but also supports meadows, wetlands, streams and agriculture. Summers are moderately warm with average temperatures in the 70's.
