Let us tell you a little about us
Modvion builds the next generation of sustainable wind turbine towers in laminated wood – nature’s carbon fiber. Using wood enables radical reductions in carbon emissions, making it possible to generate net zero energy from wind power. In fact, considering that wood is also storing carbon the tower itself is carbon negative – storing more carbon than it produces during production. To reach stronger and more stable winds and produce more energy, wind turbines are getting bigger in every sense. Thanks to our patented module system, we have developed a cost-effective solution enabling transportation for installations of tall towers.
At Modvion you get to work with driven, positive, and creative people who inspire each other. What we’re doing a real difference for the climate and accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Take the chance to join one of the most interesting companies in cleantech at a pivotal time!
Modvion's first large wind turbine tower was installed in 2023, an important milestone that confirms our innovative strength and the interest from the industry is high.
The role
If picking up the challenge, you will be part of the team that develops the methods and necessary equipment needed when erecting wooden wind turbine towers. The focus will lay in the bonding operations. The bonding operation is where we use adhesive
to assemble the structural components, wall segments, etc. of the tower. The role also spans over the development of the process and equipment for the bonding operation. This is a cross functional effort that involves both the design and installation processes where you will have a varied job together with skilled and committed colleagues. This often means that you start with a clean sheet of paper, and through iterative processes develop new solutions. You will drive the development, from requirement specification and early planning, through validation, until release of production drawings and follow-up and evaluation of production and installation. As our company evolves, your role, responsibilities and deliverables might change with it.
Tasks will include:
- Ownership, design work and validation of components and systems including the full iterative circle, with all steps from idea and concepts development to instructions and certification procedures and review of the end use.
- Taking ownership of the design and validation of components and systems, encompassing the entire iterative process from initial idea and concept development to the creation of instructions, certification procedures, and final review for end use.
- Collaboration with external suppliers on the specification, design, manufacture, and delivery of developed systems.
- Hands-on work in workshops and at the screen with prototypes, validation, and troubleshooting of technical systems.
- Preparing and reviewing documentation including drawings, instructions and technical specifications.
- Project work and participation in a lot of fun activities with the Modvion teams!
We’re looking for
A technical problem solver. Someone with an interest in wooden materials and a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. You should have a couple of years of industrial engineering experience and a good understanding for the process of taking a system from an idea to reality. Experience from product development projects with full responsibility for a component or system including hardware is an advantage.
It’s a plus if you are familiar with Inventor or a similar CAD system, 3D modelling will be part of the role but is not the main focus.
As a person you are curious, and you enjoy teamwork. You perform your tasks in an accurate and structured way while addressing uncertainties and change with an open and flexible mind. You also use your curiosity to extend our solid knowledgebase in what can be achieved by using wood in new ways. You are probably enjoying some sort of craftsmanship or DIY-projects.
