Hydrogen Technician
The Hydrogen Technician position is responsible for performing a wide range of duties relating to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility equipment within the Hydrogen Plant facility. This Technician will complete these duties and repairs in accordance with Plug Power’s safety protocol, ensuring productive maintenance to systems and equipment in support of the facility. The Hydrogen Technician will be safety focused with an exceptional attention to detail and a background in mechanical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to handle multiple tasks at once and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced growing organization.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance in order to keep the facility operational including both troubleshooting and repairs of production machines and equipment
- Properly fills out the required record keeping documentation
- Communicate on an ongoing basis with the System Controls Operator for the maintenance and operation of compressors
- Monitor process equipment and diagnoses problems; replaces or repairs parts, tests, and adjusts as necessary
- Maintain and prepare high-pressure and cryogenic trailers for filling; shuttle tube trailers in within the plant yard
- Practice safe work habits and housekeeping on a daily basis within the facility; including maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with all governmental and company procedures, rules, and regulations
- Provide or arrange for emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production; perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Assist quality and efficiency improvements
- Work safely and effectively within a team environment, ensuring positive communication
- Must professionally communicate and collaborate with other Plug Power team members and leaders
- Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational education/training is preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior experience in a manufacturing operation, filling or loading experience preferred
- Familiarity with industrial equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves, and associated tools is preferred
- Training and experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, compressors, troubleshooting or repairs is ideal
- Must have the ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker certifications
- Ability to read, interpret and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
