Job Description
The Health, Safety, and Environmental Corporate Trainer assists with the operation of EICC’s credit and non-credit Environmental, Health, & Safety ( EHS ) and Fire Safety programs. This person helps to assess, plan, implement, develop, and evaluate organized public and customized programs for the EICC service area and partner colleges. As a representative of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, this person must convey a professional and positive image. The corporate trainer must exercise a high degree of independent judgment, initiative, organization, and problem-solving in the successful operation of programs and services.
Physical Demands
Stand for extended periods of time; Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead
Required Qualifications
Must have knowledge of OSHA , EPA , HAZMAT and other fire safety needs such as NFPA and DOT regulations. Must demonstrate strong organizational and team building skills. Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and community relations skills are required. Regulatory compliance experience in an industrial setting helpful. Must have or receive appropriate certifications. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an EHS field or a combination of education, training and at least 6,000 hours of relevant tested experience in the field of instruction. 5 years of relevant field experience in EHS is preferred. Experience teaching at a community college is preferred.
