Major name in the power and utilities sectors has a requirement for an Environmental Advisor.
The purpose of the role is to assist in managing environmental matters within the organisation. This will be achieved through providing environmental advice and workable solutions that comply with company policies and industry legislation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Implementing environmental best practice, taking care to ensure the company complies with current environmental legislation
- Work with colleagues, including senior management, to make sure safe systems of work and a safe working environment is in place
- Office and site based surveys and audits
- Encourage continuous improvement of performance in environmental and sustainability
- Help develop and implement Site Waste Management Plans and Environmental Management Plans
- Offer support to colleagues and project teams, produce client reports and liaise with external partners
- Promote environmental best practices and current legislation
- Monitor environmental performance of projects and create relevant reports
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of environmental and sustainability training
- Carry out environmental audits and inspections, including on external contractors
- Play an active role in environmental workshops and meetings
- Give advice around securing licences, exemptions and legal consent
- Assist with tenders and presentations
- Advise on environmental RAMS (risk assessments and method statements)
- Take part in the investigation of environmental near misses, incidents and accidents
- Help create SHEQ training courses and coordinate with SHEQ team
- Help develop environmental KPIs
- Put together an annual carbon footprint report for the business
Applications are sought from organised Environmental Advisors with excellent communications skills and a can-do attitude, who work well under pressure and are confident offering innovative ideas. An environmental qualification is required, in addition to a driving licence. Experience with MAGIC – Defra Interactive Mapping Tool - would be helpful.
