Summary: The Environmental Coordinator leads and manages the execution of the branch environmental management program, which includes hazardous waste disposal, shipping documents, non-hazardous waste disposal and the overall management necessary to keep the office at all times in regulatory compliance. The Environmental Coordinator also assists with regulatory compliance in other areas regarding safety, DOT, OSHA and other applicable regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Assist with managing customer’s non-hazardous and hazardous waste disposal.
• Manage and track “cradle to grave” waste generation, storage and disposal utilizing proprietary software program.
• Manage the pick-up of hazardous waste on various sites for the client; Coordinate activities with generators and properly identify, classify, label and manifest waste in preparation for disposal or treatment.
• Assist with analyzing and preparing shipments of waste to TSDF or ultimate treatment facility and assist with lab packing wastes to off-site TSDF or ultimate treatment facilities.
• Ensure proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiently and maintain compliance.
• Assist with responding to hazardous material releases and assist in the containment and clean-up of spilled materials.
• Interact with Branch Manager, Project Managers and Field Staff regarding compliance with shipments of non-hazardous and hazardous waste and other client issues regarding compliance.
• Scope special projects and provide estimates including creating drum/bulk waste quotes.
• Act as resource for compliance questions/ answers; Communicate regulatory and internal policy changes to project and provide operational application guidance and interpretation.
• Support the response to environmental compliance issues, including accident/ incident investigation, internal requests and unscheduled incidents.
• Assist with preparation, collection and review of periodic environmental reports and all compliance monitoring data.
• Conduct branch compliance audits to include inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
• If applicable, maintain daily records and all required record keeping required for the management of waste facility, 10 day permit facility or waste transfer facility. Ensure that at all times the facility and records would successfully pass a regulatory inspection.
• Assist customer in compiling data necessary for completing the Generator’s Annual Report and other required reporting functions as required.
• Provide on-call support as required.
Qualification/Requirements:

• Detail orientated and works with a high degree of accuracy
• Valid unrestricted drivers license
Education/Training/Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent required (B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science preferred)
• 3+ years of years of industry related experience in hazardous waste
• Experience with hazardous waste programs; Industrial cleaning services experience preferred
• Familiarity with regulatory status requirements of Small and Large Quantity Generators
