We are growing and have a career opportunity for a Lead Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join our dynamic Environmental Assessment and Permitting/Planning team in Houston, TX.
Provides high level technical assistance and guidance multi-site/phase environmental engineering work processes, due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, and environmental permitting projects. Develops processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, hazardous or solid waste disposal, air emission sources, pollution control, and preserving the environment. Substantiates reports and documentation to advise on field conditions, movement, and outcome of overall risks to ecological and human health. Assists project leadership with environmental site assessment, corrective strategies, classification of contaminated materials, development of process and infrastructure, and with recommendations to avert degradation of air, water, and land resources. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.
Your Impact
- Evaluate proposed or existing operations to determine applicable environmental and regulatory compliance requirements at the federal, state and local levels.
- Develop comprehensive permitting and compliance plans for projects – both construction phase and operational phase- utilizing a strategic approach that is cost-effective and efficient
- Deliver permits including preparation of permitting documents, agency engagement, and compliance guidance.
- Prepare environmental compliance plans such as SPCC Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Waste Management Plans, NEPA, etc.
- Lead proposal development with estimates for efforts required to deliver environmental and regulatory compliance for projects
- Contribute to client business development activities in a doer / seller format, including client development, SOW and proposal preparation and client-centric presentations
- Serve as project manager – executing project performance and budget monitoring & reporting (internally and externally)
- Serve as an effective interface between client's project team and consulting team, conveying technical, schedule and financial information in a timely and professional manner
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering or science discipline
- Proven project management skills
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience delivering environmental/regulatory permitting and compliance support from studies and design phase up to construction and operations in one or more key markets including Oil and Gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), Power (generation and transmission/distribution), Renewable Energy, or Chemical Manufacturing.
- Multi-media permitting and compliance experience in federal and state programs such as RCRA, SARA Title III, CAA, SPCC, NPDES/POTW, NEPA, CWA Section 404/408, FERC, and state / county permits
- Quickly interpret and apply understanding of various regulatory bodies
- Adept at relationship building, team building and conflict resolution
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and writing skills
- Willing to travel up to 25% to meet project needs in the Gulf Coast region
- Must pass drug background check and must have satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering or science discipline
- Professional registration as PE in TX or ability to attain in short period
- Direct experience working for an industrial company, especially if accompanied with consulting experience
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER, ICS 100 – 300
Physical Demands:
- Field work in outdoor environments – walking on uneven terrain
- Wear petrochemical facility standard PPE including FRCs, steel toed shoes, half face and full face respirators.
