DescriptionOur main long-term commitments relate first to climate change, with the objective to become Net Zero by 2050, following science-based pathways, on both underwriting and investments. They relate also to biodiversity with the objective to reverse biodiversity loss on investments by 2030. Those strategic long-term commitments drive our sustainability roadmap on a shorter-term basis. On our own operations, we target to reach net zero emissions by 2030.
Our second long-term objective related to promoting gender diversity, and a nurturing working environment for all our people.
The Group Sustainability Team at SCOR supports the company’s long-term strategy by leveraging its expertise and network. Its key objectives include:
- Responsible Investment and Insurance Strategies: Addressing critical sustainability issues (such as climate change and biodiversity loss) and setting the sustainability strategy for the Group, through SCOR’s governance (Group Sustainability Committee and Board Sustainability Committee).
- Understanding Environmental, Social, and Ethical Trends: Enhancing SCOR’s understanding of key trends to envision the future role of (re)insurance in society.
- ESG Leadership (internal): Supporting business and operations in embedding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into their core processes
- ESG Leadership (externally): Supporting SCOR’s reputation as a trustworthy brand and responsible corporate citizen by communicating publicly using state-of-the-art reporting frameworks, participating in dedicated conferences and workshops, and managing relations with ESG rating agencies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with external stakeholders, including NGOs, international institutions, and national authorities, on issues of strategic importance to SCOR’s business.
ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Sustainability Strategy & Program Delivery will be a thought partner to the Group Head of Sustainability. Her/his duties will consist in supporting the Group Head of Sustainability across all its current responsibilities, in particular the following areas:
Key Deliverables
- Co-lead the final strategic review of public communications
- Objectives/KPIs: Facilitating in setting clear sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (“KPIs”) for SCOR Group and to measure progress and impact.
- Track and report the effectiveness of sustainability programs.
Strategy & Research
- Co-developing and implementing a comprehensive sustainability strategy.
- Keeping up to date with new trends and regulations, and continuously update and improve the sustainability strategy accordingly.
- Conduct ad-hoc transversal research sustainability-related matters for investment and (re)insurance activities
Sustainability initiatives and project management
- Manage strategic programs related to sustainability; Define project objectives, timelines, roles, responsibilities, and deliverables, and implement regular project monitoring.
- Leading / Co-leading as our sustainability initiatives. Interacting, guiding and advising business on how to integrate sustainability into their everyday activities.
- Identifying and promoting innovations that boost SCORs sustainability efforts.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to integrate sustainability into core business projects
Communication / Stakeholder Management / Relationship Building
- Perform ad-hoc benchmarking and analysis and prepare internal memos and presentations for senior management.
- Liaise with stakeholders on regulatory and strategic developments related to climate change and biodiversity.
- Forge, manage and support relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, investors, governments, NGOs, and the public.
- Promote a culture of sustainable practices and ethics.
- Accompany integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues into business practices and operations.
Representation / Involvement:
- Represents the Group Head of Sustainability in the Sustainability Committee and industry bodies as needed.
Other
- Pinpoint areas of inefficiency and unsustainable practices.
- Enable forward-looking decision-making.
- Ensure processes comply with regulations.
- Document efforts of our implementation of processes to comply with regulators
Qualifications- Experience: at least 15 years of professional experience, preferably in the financial services sector, ideally in the insurance or reinsurance industry or a consulting firm.
- Knowledge: Experience with climate-related recommendations, standards, and reporting frameworks (e.g., ESRS, CDP, SBTi, GHG Protocol) and an interest in biodiversity-related subjects (e.g., Taskforce on Nature Related Financial Disclosures).
- Skills:
- Strong critical analysis skills, comfortable with both written information and data, and able to communicate clearly and persuasively.
- Fluent in both written and spoken French and English.
- Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Strong team player, capable of working in transversal teams with other departments and across hierarchies as well as external stakeholders, and comfortable in a multicultural working environment.
- Autonomous, with the ability to prioritize, simplify and deliver on time.
- Required education: Advanced university degree, preferably with a specialization in sustainability or climate change.
