WSP is currently initiating a search for an energy sector environmental permitting and siting manager in our New York City office. Serve as Client Manager in our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The ideal candidate will have an established and successful history of experience in the region and will be a collaborative and responsive professional with strong communication, organizational and client management skills.
Your Impact
- Lead larger-scale projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
- Develop and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, agencies, partner firms and sub-consultants, as well as, other external stakeholders such as vendors and suppliers
- Managing and directing routing/siting studies, analyses, and associated reports and approvals
- Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts
- Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related degree
- Ten (10) + years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects, for a variety of energy-related projects
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC
- Proven regulatory experience, including management of state and federal level filings
- Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with state agency personnel and decision-makers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, and communicating with clients and project staff
- Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related degree
- Essential professional licensure/certification.
- Contract negotiations and management
