This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an energy sector Environmental Permitting and Siting Engineer in our New York City office. You will serve as a technical task lead in our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The ideal candidate will have an established and successful history of experience in the region and will be a collaborative and responsive professional with strong communication, organizational and project management skills.
Your Impact
- Support large-scale renewable energy projects as a subject matter expert and/or task lead
- Supporting routing/siting studies, analyses, and associated reports and approvals
- Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts
- Develop and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, agencies, partner firms and sub-consultants, as well as, other external stakeholders such as vendors and suppliers
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related degree
- 3 to 5 years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects, for a variety of energy-related projects
- Experience with noise assessments and noise mitigation in NYS
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC
- Proven regulatory experience, including management of state and federal level filings
- Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with state agency personnel and decision-makers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, and communicating with clients and project staff
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related degree
- Essential professional licensure/certification.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (All Locations): $71,700 - $122,980
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
