We are currently looking for an Environmental Specialist in Houston, TX.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Boardwalk seeks an Environmental Specialist to join a multi-disciplinary project team within the Engineering and Construction Group in our Corporate Offices in Houston, Texas. This position will be responsible for supporting engineering and constructions projects, as well as various operations projects from planning to restoration. Work will include a variety of smaller capital and expense related operations type permitting projects, to larger FERC 7(c) efforts. Job duties may include reviewing project workbooks and scoping documents, acquiring permits/clearances, overseeing consultants to secure permits and clearances on behalf of Boardwalk, permit condition compliance, FERC and other regulatory requirements and/or stipulations, and construction compliance inspections. This position will be a part of a team that works from project estimation through construction/restoration and permit close-out. The candidate will track, report, and be responsible for project budgets and timelines and inform the Project Team of variations impacting a projects execution.
This position will report to the Supervisor of Environmental Permitting and will have direct visibility to various Boardwalk disciplinary teams. The position will provide assistance in the selection and direction of various environmental contractors/consultants, review and approve their work, interact with various regulatory agencies, and prepare and submit a variety of documents and reports. The position requires excellent verbal and written skills, and the ability to oversee and manage many projects concurrently. Excellent communications skills are required.
The majority of the work will be within the Corporate Office in Houston; however, some travel may be required to field locations for both projects, agency meetings, as well as training and presentation to the various Boardwalk functional groups across the states the Boardwalk operates.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with the Natural Gas/Pipeline Industry.
- Competent skills in professional written and verbal communication.
- Participate as a member of multidisciplinary team(s) for various simultaneous projects.
- Two to eight years of environmental experience related to securing permits for wetlands, coastal zone management, endangered species, cultural resources, and hydrostatic discharges.
- Ability to maintain/meet multiple projects/deadlines.
- State, Federal, and Local Permitting experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.
- Strong ability to multi-task and adapt to ever changing regulation.
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Excels in Communication and Organizational abilities.
- Experience related to FERC project construction and adherence to the Plan and Procedures.
- Experience writing and reviewing FERC documents and Resource Reports to satisfy all FERC requirements.
- Experience writing and reviewing NEPA documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and environmental permitting contractors.
- Expertise related T&E species regulations and permitting.
- Expertise related to Historic Preservation regulations and permitting.
- Expertise related to Wetlands and Coastal Zone regulations and permitting.
- Knowledge of Hydrostatic Testing regulations, permitting, sampling and agency notifications.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- BS Science or Engineering
