Job Summary:
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to join our team. The EHS Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations to promote a safe and healthy work environment. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to foster a safety-conscious culture within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
- Develop and implement safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain records of EHS audits, incidents, and inspections, and generate reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor and ensure proper waste disposal, recycling, and sustainability practices.
- Collaborate with management and department heads to address EHS concerns and ensure safe work practices are integrated into daily operations.
- Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including the development of emergency response plans and conducting regular drills.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in EHS regulations and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in EHS management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Certification in safety or environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
