STV has an opening for a Junior Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental group in our New York, NY office. The motivated candidate will be a part of our environmental team, develop unique engineering skills and work on a broad spectrum of capital construction, design, investigation/assessment, and remediation projects.
The successful candidate will have minimum of 2 years of environmental engineering experience. Relevant experience includes:
Assisting with design document preparation
Performing site reconnaissance and inspections.
Operation & maintenance of mechanical systems.
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; and
Environmental work plan and report writing.
In addition, the candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and possess excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to prepare engineering design documents (e.g., vapor mitigation, in-situ remediation, storm water control and potable water purification systems).
Assist environmental team with construction-period services (e.g., review of contractor submittals, field reconnaissance and site inspections).
Develop emergency response, remedial investigation and work plans to address critical environmental issues (e.g., hazardous material releases, vapor intrusion, potable water contamination).
Provide on-site verification and inspection during, or after remedial construction-related activities to assess progress and/or conformance.
Perform site inspections to assess potable water systems including water disinfections and lead testing.
Communicate and process technical information from partners and vendors for project planning and execution.
Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
Conduct Phase II Environmental Site Assessments including field oversight and soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling.
Assist project managers to prepare, review and modify, as necessary, planning documents, due diligence reports, investigation/assessment reports, feasibility studies, remedial designs, and engineering cost estimates.
Other related duties and responsibilities may also be assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental experience with knowledge of engineering standards and environmental regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Proficiency in drafting with AutoCAD.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational capabilities.
Experience preparing field documentation, project specifications and/or reports.
Availability to work overtime with some evenings and weekends.
A valid driver’s license in good standing.
Drive for continual learning and to “be the best”.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer-in-Training designation.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
Experience drafting with MicroStation.
Experience modeling with REVIT
Experience mapping with ArcGIS.

Compensation Range:
$76,852.00 - $102,470.00
