DescriptionPosition Purpose: The Program Director is a subject matter expert who leads the online Master of Public Administration in Sustainability. The Program Director is the “face” of the program within the institution, with prospective and current students, and in relevant professional and academic communities.
Core Responsibilities:
- With input from faculty colleagues, articulates and maintains program vision and learning outcomes
- Oversees the successful design, development, and delivery of program offerings and the continued relevance of program content; designs and delivers at least one course in the program annually
- Actively promotes the program with the support of internal and external partners to recruit, yield, and retain students
- Identifies subject matter experts and practitioners to serve as affiliate faculty; supervises and mentors program faculty
- Assesses program performance annually through quantitative and qualitative program evaluation and adjusts program features accordingly
- With the support of the online program manager and academic advisor, monitors the progression of students through the program and supports them through successful program completion
- Maintains currency and connections through active participation in professional organizations and conferences
- Promotes the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in support of learner access, success, and engagement
This is a part-time, term-limited position. Compensation for this position is $40,000 ($51.28/hour in California).
RequirementsPosition Prerequisites:
- Master’s degree in public administration, sustainability management or related field required, doctorate preferred
- Minimum five years’ experience teaching in a graduate or professional development context
- Familiarity with licensing and certification requirements for the field
- Knowledge of best practices in online teaching and learning, including assessment of learning and/or competency-based education
- Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills, including ability to work cooperatively with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
- Willingness and ability to adapt to changing technologies and systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness and ability to comply with Institute policies, procedures, and mandates
