JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, EHS, this role is responsible for developing and implementing solutions to environmental challenges, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting sustainable practices. You will work on diverse projects, from pollution control to waste management, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to protect and improve our natural environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. Your expertise in EPA and EPD compliance requirements and sustainability within a manufacturing company are crucial to our operations and will be highly valued.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop environmental procedures and programs for all departments and monitor compliance to reduce risks by evaluating the facilities for environmental risks
- Maintain contingency plans and procedures for controlling environmental issues per government regulations and insurance company requirements and create new processes to increase efficiency
- Develop inspection policies and establish regular inspection schedules
- Maintains EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permits, water pollution discharge, etc.
- Monitors professional literature and attends seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements
- Works closely with in-house leadership to ensure all compliance issues are being maintained
- Works closely with the EHS team to immediately address and correct all Environmental incidents, concerns, and compliance issues by report findings and correction plans
- Diagnose environmental issues with the company's processes and identify areas of sustainability
- Identify Emission Inventory, perform monthly calculations and analysis with VOCs, etc.; and perform annual Tier II report, ensuring full accuracy
- Apply for federal and state grants as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience and knowledge of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Significant experience with Title V of the Clean Air Act
- Significant experience with RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act)
- Basic computer skills with both Microsoft Office and database applications.
- Experience and Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ESG
- Excellent skills in written and oral communication
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels and organizations within the company as well as with outside vendors
- Ability to drive and inspect outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with EPA and EPD compliance requirements and sustainability within a manufacturing company.
