The Opportunity
Sambatek is currently seeking an Environmental Group Leader to grow our environmental team within our Transportation practice and to collaborate in completing environmental documentation tasks.
This individual will work on projects involving linear civil engineering projects and site-specific land development projects at the study, preliminary engineering, and final design phases.
Work Location: Hybrid, in-office as needed or as preferred
The qualified candidate will:
- Supervise team of environmental professionals
- Forecast workload for schedule and budget purposes
- Manage contracts, project budgets, schedule, and invoicing
- Complete environmental reviews and analysis per client and regulatory agency requirements
- Lead the development of environmental documentation, such as AUARs, Categorical Exclusions, EA/EAW, and EIS
- Write technical reports, such as wetland delineation reports
- Lead development of permit applications and supporting materials
- Lead coordination with project teams, clients, and agencies to ensure all environmental requirements are identified and met
Qualifications
- Bachelor�s Degree in Earth Science field (Biology, Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, Hydrology, or Soil Science)
- Wetland Certification
- 8+ years of experience in environmental documentation, ideally related to transportation projects
- Experience or familiarity with MnDOT, counties, and linear projects
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and specialty software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Microstation/GEOPAK or Open Roads, and GPS data collection
- History of leading project teams, task leadership, and/or previous supervisor experience
- Self-motivated with strong communication (verbal and written), leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively to manage multiple tasks on multiple projects with strong attention to detail
- Schedule and organize staff workloads and project budgets and schedules to meet scope via quality deliverables
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment
- Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
